How to find changes occured between labels applies. In snapshot context.

Posted: Nov 05, 2010 07:02:22 AM Hi,
I have some file in VOB and they have labels. Ex.
\file.txt@@\main\5 with label MyLABEL_v1
\file.txt@@\main\10 with label MyLABEL_v2
and main latest is ex \main\20
I would like to list all versions between those with MyLABEL_v1 and MyLABEL_v2
so expected results are:
\file.txt@@\main\6
\file.txt@@\main\7
\file.txt@@\main\8
\file.txt@@\main\9
\file.txt@@\main\10

Second requirement is that I need this list for each file in current snapshot view. It is critical.

I can also rely on dates instead of labels. But when I provide in cleartool commands like:

find E:\myView\MyVOB -version "created_since(2010-10-27T09:13:08+02:00) && (! created_since(2010-11-01T09:13:08+02:00)) " -print

Returned list seems to be OK but contains informations about files which are not loaded to my view.

Posted: Nov 04, 2010 12:30:42 PM Hi,

I would like to add the setting of user env vars CLEARCASE_PRIMARY_GROUP and CLEARCASE_GROUP into different sitedefs.dat files to force CC to set this variables on installation.

Is this possible?
I don't like to write *.bat files and then to use "reg add" or "reg import".

Cheers,
Uwe

I'd advise against trying to hack something since everything will change with CC 7.1 and up installs.
You can write a bat script that will set the env var and then call the CC install (mimicking that click on sitedefs).

That you will be able to modify in the future to call IM.

Subject: Clearcase Issue - by: peeps

When I try to ‘Remove’ a file in Clearcase, I get the following types of error:

1. Version Discordance.
2. Update aborted.

Please let me know how to handle this.

Further, am currently deleting all unnecessary ‘Activity’ in CQ and similarly, the unnecessary files in CC repository. Hence, I want the following details:

1)Given an activity, are there any automated methods to find all the associated deliverables. (Currently, am getting that by viewing the UCM field of an activity. Correct me if I am wrong.

2)Once a deliverable is mapped to an activity, Are there any other ways to map the same deliverable to any other activity?

Thanks,
Aravind

Subject: Event 2010-10-25: Distributed Version Control - by: vinnyjames

Presented by Dan North, Agile troublemaker, developer and originator of BDD

This is a joint event with the BCS Open Source SG.

Synopsis
Big organisations like to centralise. They like the control and management of centralised services. Distributed source code management (DSCM) systems such as git and mercurial represent a potentially disruptive shift in version control. Dan has been using DSCMs for his personal projects for a couple of years now, and recently his company - a 500 person trading firm - took the decision to embrace DSCM and begin the migration towards git from its centralised, monolithic Subversion repository.

In this talk, Dan outlines some of the differences between centralised and distributed version control systems, from a technical, social and organisational perspective, and describes some of the challenges of migrating towards and using DSCM successfully in a commercial setting.

Please give me some ideas?

Thanks

Your best option is to consider our validated Ready For Rational tool InPractice:
http://www.cm-logic.com/software/cm-logic/inpractice.html

This is the most stable Trigger Management System written in Perl.

Hope this helps.

It allows full control of all triggers within multiple VOBs easily and efficiently.

Posted: Nov 03, 2010 07:35:11 PM I have a branch cspec below
element * CHECKEDOUT
element csm5200_apps/release/boaapps_cc.pl .../wizard_boaapps_int/LATEST
element third_party_import/... WIZARD_THIRD_PARTY_TOOLS_V1 -nocheckout
element * .../wizstar_8_3_x_release_branch/LATEST
element * INTEGRATION_BOAAPPS_10.09.00.19 -mkbranch wizstar_8_3_x_release_branch
element * /main/LATEST -mkbranch wizstar_8_3_x_release_branch

And I have several label that I want to merge back to main.

How can I do that from the command line?
The new files/dir added to the branch must also be merged.

Thanks!

Posted: Nov 04, 2010 09:16:55 PM   in response to: edinei in response to: edinei's post In order to do this, you must create a View with the config spec setup (view1) so that it contains all the labels/branches that you want to merge from into /main. After that, you can then go into a View that is only looking at /main (view2) and run the following command:

> cleartool findmerge -all -ftag other options

That should merge all versions that view1 is looking at into all versions that view2 is looking.
