Below are the client's requirements for the System Integration Test Engineer
Required Skills from the system integration test engineer:
- A good understanding and experience in GSM/UMTS L1 control
- Basic GSM/UMTS L2/L3 design/implementation knowledge
- Good knowledge of real time operating systems, RTOS
- General knowledge of embedded systems design for example ARM cores, memory, peripherals, DMA, cache, MMU, etc / schematics reading.
- Experience in UNIX, WIN, C, C++, SDL, Lauterbach, GSM/UMTS test equipment, MAKE, ClearCase, ClearQuest
- Experience in SW Configuration and Change management
(Version control, release management, SW repository architecture)

Description of the activities of the System Integration Test Engineer:
* Trouble analysis
- Reproducing of SW trouble on internal host-/target test environment
- route cause analysis of trouble and hand over to SW specialist
- Trouble correction in case of HW platform related issues (memory map, heap sizes of SW processes, ..)
* Integration testing
- perform regression tests for new SW releases
- perform individual test-cases to prove a specific SW correction
* NAS/GAS/UAS Host-test
- maintain and execute host test system for NAS/GAS/UAS for the purpose of PS trouble analysis
- creating, updating and executing NAS/GAS/UAS test cases on host, based on specified test cases and 3GPP specs

Availability for short term trips to the customer site is desirable.

Agile in the development team is more or less reality. It seems like everyone is either Agile or planning to move to it (if only in name). But as Jeffery pointed out, faster releases from Dev places more strain on test and ops. That's where the big changes are going to be happening.
Even as that goes on, it will put pressure on other groups. I'm hearing, "How come the app teams are able to build and release so quickly while our business intelligence reports take a long time to migrate?" In response to the need for faster BI migrations, we're starting to add support for applying DevOps to BI tooling in AnthillPro. At the same time, the BI tool vendors are clearly feeling some pressure and adding more automation friendly APIs.
In short: Agile isn't just for application developers anymore.
The cloud is interesting. I think it's mostly finding a role right now around test. How do I let my developers spin up private sand-boxes to test the software? If I have a new code line, how do I spin up the 10 VMs required to really put it through it's functional tests in 15 minutes rather than 15 days?

This technote explains how to resolve an error cleartool: Error: A non-nil global pathname value is required for Dynamic views, that can occur when attempting to create a IBM® Rational® ClearCase® (CC) dynamic view using a registered view storage location (stgloc) that has no global path.

Symptom

Errors like the following are reported when attempting to create a dynamic view using a stgloc that does not have a global path defined :

cleartool: Error: A non-nil global pathname value is required for Dynamic views

Example:
cleartool mkview -tag viewname -stgloc view2
cleartool: Error: A non-nil global pathname value is required for Dynamic views.
Exit 1

Here are the details about the stgloc being used in the above mkview command:

Name: view2
Type: View
Region: unix
Storage Location uuid: 7c590965.8f0311dd.8aa7.00:01:80:9f:0a:a5
Global path:
Server host: myhost
Server host path: /scratch/view2

Cause

The registered view storage location was created without a global path defined.

A stgloc created with a non global path can not be used with dynamic views, which relies on the global path for accessing the view's storage location.

Resolving the problem

Define a global path for the registered view stgloc.

Examples:

cleartool mkstgloc -view -host myhost -hpath /scratch/view3 -gpath /scratch/view3 view3 /sc
Created and advertised Server Storage Location.
Host-local path: myhost:/scratch/view3
Global path: /scratch/view3
cleartool mkview -tag -view -stgloc view3

Host-local path: myhost:/scratch/view3/user1/-view.vws
Global path: /scratch/view3/user1/-view.vws
It has the following rights:
